About Your Midwife
“I love my work as a midwife: supporting growing families in such a variety of ways is one of my greatest joys, and I find it deeply satisfying to hold space for natural birth to unfold in as undisturbed a manner as possible. I bring a decade of study in nutritional, herbal, & energetic wellness, and years of work in the realms of female empowerment & reproductive justice. I believe that both the human body and the childbearing cycle are sacred, and that midwifery care honors and protects the precious rites of passage therein.”
Michelle is a California Licensed Midwife. Her background includes a comprehensive academic and clinical training at Maternidad La Luz, a high-volume freestanding birth center on the border in El Paso, Texas. She has also worked with traditional and autonomous midwives in Morelos and Chiapas, Mexico. She considers her clients, their babies, and birth itself to be her greatest teachers.
Michelle holds a B.A. in Social Welfare from U.C. Berkeley. She has taught several classes and workshops, including Female Sexuality at U.C. Berkeley and Legacies of Medical Racism and Transgender Competency for Healthcare Providers at Maternidad La Luz Midwifery School.
